A trip down memory lane with Daniel

Insight Vision Care was originally Vision on Synnot when we bought the practice from the previous owners in October 2004. At the time, the practice was located on Synnot Street, and had been established for more than 20 years.

I consulted full time at that stage, keeping the existing staff on and, in my words at the time, ‘throwing myself on their mercy’, as I had never run a business before. 

My sister Lisa and I did as much of the work ourselves as we could – I did the accounting during gaps in the appointment book, and designed our business cards and logo.

The business grew slowly, primarily by word of mouth, particularly with my focus at the time being on paediatric care – at the time there was no-one else in the area who was equipped to deal with childrens’ vision.

In 2017 the practice moved to its current location, where we invested in a second consulting room, and rebranded with the now familiar googly-eyes glasses logo. The new space is modern, and more visible – I strongly recall the number of people who didn’t know that we had been in Werribee for over a decade! 

With the increased capacity, we have taken on more staff, including optometrists Wala and Naeem. We have also invested in new equipment, and expanded the scope of our offering, including specialist contact lenses, more vision training, and care for patients with symptoms following traumatic brain injury.
